* Zoom in to discover the detailed interiors
of eleven ancient structures including the Colosseum.
* Learn about Ancient Rome through information bubbles
written by expert historians
That is quite a fascinating future ahead when it comes to the virtual exploration of actual historical locations. The more of these things Google work on, the greater Google Earth could become as an educational tool.
Combine this with what some of the virtual reality software and online worlds such as second life and twinity are doing and you get a picture of what the educational world of the future will be - kids will really get an opportunity to 'live' in the past or fly through the grand canyon...
To download Google Earth and learn more about the layer, users can visit Earth.Google/Rome. To view Ancient Rome 3D, users should go to the "Layers" panel of Google Earth, select "Gallery," then "Ancient Rome 3D."
